Tattoo Aftercare

First 5 Days

  • Keep your bandage on (2-5 days if we used Saniderm or its equivalent.) If the bandage leaks out or feels irritated, you can remove it early.

  • When removing, do it in a warm shower and peel up gently from a corner.

  • Wash 2-3 times a day with an unscented soap (Dr. Bronner’s or Dial is great), pat dry with a clean towel, and apply a small amount of Aquaphor or unscented lotion.

Day 5 - Day 7

  • Your tattoo may start to peel or flake — this is totally normal.

  • Continue to wash and moisturize your tattoo 2-3 times each day. Avoid direct sunlight.

  • Do not scratch or pick at it. Scratching/slapping lightly around the area may help alleviate some discomfort

Week 2 - 3

  • Peeling and itching usually calm down. There should be no redness or swelling still present.

  • Keep moisturizing and protecting your tattoo from friction and sun.

  • Tattoo may look a little dull or cloudy — that’s also part of the healing process and nothing to worry about.

30+ Days

  • Congrats! You made it! Your tattoo should be fully healed at this point.

  • You can safely swim, bathe, and apply sunscreen (SPF 30+).

  • If anything looks patchy or uneven, reach out to me for a touch-up. Touch-ups are always free!
